MUSICIANS...
Make more money playing!
Are you tired of preparing all week for a 4 hour gig at a random local venue that is only gonna pay you $100-200, MAX?
Or maybe you are getting decent gigs but they are inconsistent & you just can’t see how you will be able to become a full time musician?
Well… I have been exactly where you are, so I know exactly how to help you.
So you may be thinking, “why should I listen to you?” and that is a great question…
My name is John Poe. I have been able to book HUNDREDS of high paying gigs ($1,500-$3,000) across my career, I attended Berklee College Of Music, & I even ran an entertainment agency to do this for other people…
I have broken everything down - step by step - exposing my systems so that you can use them & book high paying gigs, just like I have been able to.
And I can guarantee it will work for you as long as you follow the framework in its entirety…
See, you don’t need to send a bunch of cold emails to venue owners, you don’t need to keep playing gigs in hope to get in front of the “right people”… & you definitely don’t have to play terrible gigs just to pay the bills.
And I know you don’t have to do any of that because I have secured hundreds of high paying gigs across my career…
I even started an entertainment agency to do this for other people such as Tommy, who grew his IG followers by over 25,000 new people in 180 days & did a full tour in CA…
Or Justin, who used these strategies to do a string of shows across the eastern US - all by using my PROVEN systems.
It doesn't matter whether you are a...
- Pianist
- Guitarist
- Drummer
- Oboist
- Producer
- Singer-songwriter
- Record label
- etc...
or even people that are just adjacent to the music industry... honestly this framework works for ANYTHING because it isn't some trick or hack…
This is a framework that will bring high paying attention, right to your inbox…
The only caveat is you must take everything we are going to discuss & apply it - IN FULL. NO EXCEPTIONS.
Now the framework I am going to show you is something that I have been running for over 5 years now for social media…
It is one of many modules inside my Mastermind program (so if you like this, you will like the other modules in there)
and I have seen a 100% success rate - as long as you are consistent & follow the framework in its entirety.
I have generated MILLIONS of impressions across different social media profiles, for myself, my clients, & others, along with ad spend & other media operations…
All by using this one simple framework that generates massive amounts of engaged attention & understanding how to create effective content.
If you are ready, let's jump in...
SOCIAL MEDIA SECRETS
Most people have absolutely no idea what they are doing when it comes to social media…
They 100% just create random stuff & put it on their account hoping that it does well with the algorithm... Well, what is the algorithm anyways?
The algorithm simply decides who to push your content to, how much to push your content, & when to continue to push content or stop pushing content.
The algorithm makes use of AI & is great at determining the question - 'what is a high quality video'...
This is why anything you are posting should at least adhere to some quality standard. Use at least a smartphone camera or better, good lighting, audio, etc.
The next thing you need to understand is what makes content 'viral'...
Virality comes from one thing - creating emotion.
Emotional content comes from creating something that invokes curiosity, controversy, identifying pain & problems, happiness, etc…
The more 'emotionally charged' your feed is - the more the algorithm will push it.
You can do this by asking open-ended questions, you can raise drama & controversy, you can understand the problems someone is having & give them solutions…
And this is exactly what we are going to be doing. Instead of just posting content, you need to set a particular 'goal'. Whether it be followers, engagement, reach, impressions, money, etc…
You need to pick a solid goal & focus on reverse engineering the output.
See... every single goal is an output - of inputs that you do. In order to hit a goal, we just have to reverse engineer the output & figure out what inputs are needed…
If your goal is to hit 10,000 followers within 180 days, that means:
- You'd need at least 55 followers a day
- 55 followers / day = 100 times the impressions
- 5500 impressions per day
So you need to generate 5500 impressions per day, in order to get to 10,000 followers within the next 180 days…
But... you're probably asking, how do you get them to actually follow you?
Well... this is where something called copywriting comes in. See in order to really create emotional content, you have to move people with your words. That's what copywriting is.
Copywriting is finding a way to write to a specific person.
Just like how I am doing now, speaking to musicians who are interested in making more money, you need to find your ‘avatar’...
Once you have an avatar in mind, then you need to figure out their problems, their pains, what they like, what they dislike, what are their core desires, etc…
Then you will use those problems, pains, likes, dislikes, & core desires to create content that hooks them in.
There are a few different content types you can make but broadly, it is a spectrum from educational to entertainment.
So on one end you have purely educational content to teach & inform the end consumer, on the other end you have entertainment to entertain the end consumer…
This is where you get to decide what type of content you want to make… Is it educational, is it entertainment, or is it somewhere in the middle?
Here are some examples of content types you can use:
- BTS - creative process, studio sessions, filming gigs, DITL
- Performances - cut up shows, rehearsals, practices, jam sessions, etc.
- EDU - create tutorials, lessons, tips & tricks on playing.
- Stories - tell stories about your journey & your experiences
- Interactive - post stories with polls, challenges, Q&As, etc.
Really try to dive deep on your ‘avatar’ & create as much content tailored to them as you can.
We don’t have time to talk about all of the platforms today, but I will give you my two favorites - Instagram & YouTube.
Firstly, for IG, you want to make sure you have a cohesive profile.
It should look something like this:
- John | Helping musicians
- 10+ yrs as a pro pianist all over the US
- Want to learn how to PRINT money as a musician??
- [insert link here]
You state who you are & what you do, your experience/authority, then your offer with a CTA/link…
This gives anyone who is looking at your profile for a few seconds a chance to fully understand who you are, why they should listen to you, & what you offer.
Those are probably the three most IMPORTANT things you can do for any profile - make those three things clear.
As far as creating content, you have to post on a consistent schedule to see ANY results…
For IG I would do this:
- 1 reel a day
- 1 feed post a day
- 2+ stories a day
This will allow you to get at least 10,000 impressions per month just on IG alone...
On average, you will convert 1-2% of those impressions into followers.
For YouTube, I would try to post at least 1 long a month (up to 1 a week) & copy the IG reels strategy over to YouTube shorts.
So you may be asking… I have the avatar I want to create content for, I understand who they are & what they like, so how do I know what will work & what won’t?
This is where the professionals are separated from the amateurs…
With social media & marketing strategies, everything is about testing what works. From the first 3-5 second ‘hook’, to the captions, to the way you say things…
Everything should be tested to fully know if it works or doesn’t.
For Instagram, if you are making reels, test changing the first 3-5 second ‘scroll stopper’ or ‘hook’...
Try calling them out directly: ‘Are you X who has always wanted Y’...
Try calling them out indirectly: ‘Have you ever done X & felt like you didn’t get Y’...
You should always try to lead with a question that is intriguing, sparks some kind of curiosity, & allows the reader to feel relatable.
This also applies to the captions. On IG, you get about 2-3 lines before the caption is cut off & you have to click to see more…
Always test the visible 2-3 lines in the caption to see if you get more engagement or more clicks...
This even goes down to the scripting of the video, the sounds you are using, the type of video, how long the video is, the type of editing, etc.
You should be testing everything to see how it performs relative to other content that you put out… Then once you find the best performing formats, do that.
So, how do you test? Well, you try out ‘Test 1’ & post similar content with the same framework for about 7 days. Then you swap to a different style & compare.
Continue doing that until you find the best performing video hooks, best type of content, best caption, etc…
This is the exact same strategy you would use for YouTube shorts. Just copy what you are doing on IG & repeat on YouTube.
For YouTube long form videos, again - create what you would consume.
If you are having trouble finding an avatar to create content for, simply create what you would consume…
Create a longform YouTube video & start testing. Don’t worry, the first videos are always terrible. You only get better with more reps.
Once you have created 15-20 long form videos, you should have a better grasp on what works better than others…
The main thing you should be testing on YouTube is thumbnails & titles…
You can have the best video in the world, but if the thumbnail & title sucks, no one will click on the video.
You can test thumbnails & titles on old videos as well. You can easily ‘revive’ older videos on YouTube, simply by changing the thumbnail & title…
I like to use both Instagram & YouTube in combination with each other because they drive a lot of high quality engaged traffic.
The entire goal with creating social media content is to generate attention & trade their attention for value in exchange for money.
Social media also acts as your ‘digital resume’, so when you are using our other strategies to book gigs, this will look really good on you…
Overall, my main takeaways from both YouTube & Instagram, generating MILLIONS of impressions across both…
Is that you have to test everything, create content you would consume, & continue to gain momentum.
Momentum is one of the biggest things you could possibly get from doing social media…
At first, the growth might feel slow…
You might not get very many views or any traction at all…
Especially on newer or less active accounts, you are usually put into an evaluation phase before the algorithm pushes your reach…
But, overtime, you will start to see bigger & bigger numbers.
Just continue with the posting schedule, continue testing different content types every single week, & it will grow…
In June of 2024 I ran a test. I posted reels for 2 weeks, specifically tips & tricks about playing the piano. 1 reel a day…
After 2 weeks, I generated nearly 10k impressions (9.9k total)...
No DM strategies, no emails, nothing complicated. Simply 1 video a day, for 2 weeks, & generated 10k impressions…After 2 weeks, I generated nearly 10k impressions (9.9k total)...
Now the question from there is how do you convert those impressions into opportunities - or ultimately money?
Well that is exactly what we cover in the Poe Musician Mastermind…
